Why I Stamp

I was introduced to the art of rubber stamping when I attended a home workshop about 11 years ago, and two years later I signed up to be a Demonstrator with Stampin’ Up! For the first few years, the only items I stamped were cards. Scrapbooking was an alternate universe for me, and I never dreamed of using stamps for anything else. But something was missing.

I spent numerous months researching stamps and techniques online, reading books, and experimenting, until I came across the wonderful world of altered art! Using stamps to collage, to mold, to add images to metal and wood and plastic, I don’t know why I didn’t think of it before! I can only say “duh”. I’ve been altering ever since and using stamps on anything and everything. Plus, the techniques have added a new dimension to my cardmaking abilities.

Apparently I am not the only one who longs to be creative and use stamps for beautiful projects… some people just don’t know where to start. I have come across so many people, seasoned stampers and newbies alike, who want to learn new techniques and try something different. So, I've started teaching others what I've learned and sharing inspiration with stampers and artists from all walks of life. I started teaching classes, selling my cards, and founded the Smeared Ink blog. I've also learned so much from others and continue to learn and grow as a stamper as I am exposed to all different types and levels of stampers and papercrafters.

I am a mother of four fabulous kids, a Navy wife, and a bellydancer. I love incorporating my unique life into my art. I am constantly trying to find new ways to incorporate stamping into the other areas of my life with projects like altered bellydancing belts, stamped everything for my kids, and sharing this wonderful art with everyone I come in contact with.
